Follow these technical specifications when creating Ultra Res artwork to ensure compatibility and optimal visual quality on the Layer platform.

Duration

Ultra Res artwork has flexible duration requirements:

Minimum

35 seconds

Maximum

7 minutes (420 seconds)

Choose a duration that suits your artistic vision. The system will automatically loop your content if viewers watch beyond the single playback duration.

File Size

Maximum 50 GB. This accommodates high-bitrate content, but strive to keep files as small as practical while maintaining quality.

Resolution

2160×2160 pixels (4K square). All artwork must be rendered in this format for consistent display.

Format

MP4 (H.264) for most use cases, or MOV (Apple ProRes) for maximum quality. MP4 recommended for better compression and compatibility.

Bitrate

Use the highest possible. H.264/MP4: 50–100 Mbps or higher. Apple ProRes: 100–500 Mbps depending on profile.

Frame Rate

60 FPS minimum. Ensures responsive visual motion and eliminates jitter.

Encoding

CBR (Constant Bitrate) for predictable file sizes, or VBR (Variable Bitrate) for better quality. VBR generally recommended.
